Transfer Information

By Kentucky law, if one graduates with an Associate in Arts or an Associate in Science degree from a community college having completed the full 60-hour program described under the General Education Block Transfer Policy, one will be admitted to junior-level standing at any public Kentucky university.

Students who have not graduated but who have completed the 33-hour core transfer component in the five specified subject areas described under the General Education Block Transfer Policy will be able to transfer these hours as a block to any public Kentucky institution.

Students who have completed only some areas in the 33-hour core transfer component will be certified upon request to the Big Sandy CTC Registrar's office on an area-by-area basis.

Students planning to transfer to non-public colleges or universities can also transfer their general education coursework through Articulation Agreements.

The Council on Post Secondary Education has established TRANSFER FRAMEWORKS for students with an A.A. or A.S. transferring to a public university. The Frameworks identify specific general education or support courses for programs at each state university. This assists students in planning for transfer of courses in their A.A. / A.S.

Students transferring in from other universities, who wish to obtain their degree from BSCTC, must complete at least 25 percent of their course work with Big Sandy CTC.
