In Memoriam
Our college family was saddened to learn of the death of one of our most outstanding faculty members, Bob Looney. When learning of his passing, Dr. George D. Edwards, President observed that “Robert Looney has touched the lives of hundreds of students in eastern Kentucky and he has been an inspiration to his colleagues at BSCTC.” Robert is survived by his loving wife Linda Darlene Looney, his son Kevin Brian Johnson, and his daughter Tashi Lynne Johnson. He is entombed at West Liberty Memorial Gardens, West Liberty, KY. Bob Looney served in a variety of leadership positions for the college including Council Senator, Faculty Council Chair, Division Chair, Associate Dean of Academic Affairs. He was a recipient of the Great Teacher Award. Dr. Nancy Johnson, Provost remarked that, “ the loss of Robert Looney creates a tremendous void in our college, our communities, and our hearts. Bob exhibited a love for what he did and for those who benefited from his passion.” Our sympathy goes out to Linda and his family. The Robert E. Looney Humanities ScholarshipThe Robert E. Looney Humanities Scholarship represents the appreciation for years of excellent work, leadership, professionalism and a delightful sense of humor displayed by our beloved friend, Robert. This scholarship shall be awarded to students who are full-time, are in need of financial assistance, have a 3.0 GPA or above and seek to complete an AA degree in humanities with a preference placed on communications.
