The Big Sandy Community and Technical College Library has received a grant from the Kentucky Humanities Council  to join  in the celebrations surrounding the two-hundredth birthday of our fellow Kentuckian, President Abraham Lincoln. In conjunction with the Library Seminar Series in Spring 2009 which will focus on his legacy, the library is co-sponsoring this contest for BSCTC students. Other sponsors include The Big Sandy College Educational Foundation, The Prestonsburg Rotary Club and the Prestonsburg Woman’s Club.

The purpose of the contest is to give students an opportunity to reflect upon the legacy of Abraham Lincoln in commemoration of his two hundredth birthday.  Participants will create an original entry consisting of an essay, poem or work of art. The theme is Lincoln’s Legacy: A Test of Endurance.
