Early Intervention Program:
The Center for Enrichment Resources offers an Early Intervention Program which provides support and assistance for students enrolled in writing (ENC090-091, ENG101-102) and reading classes (RDG10-20-30), and for those enrolled in other classes requiring strong reading and writing skills. Early Intervention also provides support and assistance for students in areas related to learning support services (test-taking skills, study skills, and other topics important for student success). The CER's Early Intervention Specialists are Kitty Holbrook and Amanda Slone (reading, writing, and related areas), and Dale Charles (testing, study skills, and learning support areas).
Through the Early Intervention Program, students may receive assistance with:- Basic grammar, punctuation, mechanics, and organization.
- Reading comprehension.
- Developing reading strategies.
- Writing paragraphs and various types of essays (ENC090 through ENG101).
- Assistance with research papers (ENG102, as well as General Education courses requiring research papers).
- Assistance with study skills, test-taking skills, test anxiety, and other barriers to learning.
The Early Intervention Program is offered on the Prestonsburg Campus in the Study Skills and Learning Support Center (M219), and in the Pikeville CER (N204). Students from other locations may utilize this service via e-mail.
Faculty are encouraged to use this form when referring students to the Early Intervention Program so we can know the type of assistance that is needed:
